“’Thank you!’ just seems too small a phrase for all the gifts you have given me. When I feel frustrated in my job as a 5th grade teacher and wonder if I can help these kids achieve under the difficult circumstances they often come from, I draw on ‘Wawenockisms’, staff meetings at Camp and the words of wisdom I have collected there over the years. Thank you for appreciating me and always cheering me on. The past 9 years on staff have truly shaped me as a person – my confidence has grown past anything I’ve ever dreamed of. Your guidance, support and leadership not only help me do my job at Camp, but help me do it at home, too!”
“My greatest reward was seeing my girls help and support the younger campers – using words and actions that I had used in support of them earlier in the summer!”
“The staff was phenomenal this summer. Everyone embraced our program goals with full force and enthusiasm and the campers learned what the true focus of archery is. So many more campers than I could have ever dreamed were thinking for themselves and setting incredible goals, based on the steps of shooting.”
“The calendar boards that the girls made, especially for their ages, were absolutely incredible. Hearing girls say, “I wish I had taken crafts this year!” validated the choices we made for projects and also underscored that we were able to make it fun for the campers in our classes.”
“It was great checking in with each girl and doing fun bedtime activities with them. My greatest rewards were having my campers open up to me and watching them be excited about their achievements in their activities and all-camp events and traditions.”
“I cannot believe that a month has gone by since I left beautiful Lake Sebago! Time really does fly… I have been meaning to write for some time. Because I wanted to thank you for making summer 2010 so amazing – and I only saw part of the work, effort, passion and love you poured into Camp Wawenock. Thank you so much. I could not have had a better summer. I loved the sub-seniors, I loved all the activities I taught and I loved the staff! We have such a great support system at Camp – it has even continued since the summer ended! I have been keeping in touch with so many people – it’s great! Wawenock Spirit truly never dies!”
