Meals at Wawenock are served family style at breakfast and dinner in our Dining Hall. We sit with the same group for a week and then get a new table group on Sunday nights. Each group has a variety of ages represented and two or three staff members. It is a great time to talk and hear from others who you might not normally connect with about what is going on in their activities, cabins, and units. One of the keys to keeping the conversation flowing is the role of Senior Hostess. The Senior Hostess is an assigned camper at each table, who lives in the Senior Unit, and whose job it is to explain camp traditions, help first time campers with how the dining hall runs, and keep the conversation at the table going. In that spirit, today’s suggested camp activity is to create some Conversation Cards!
Materials Required: Paper or index cards, scissors, pencils, pens, colored pencils or markers
How to Create and Use Conversation Cards: Choose some questions from the list below (or use all of them!) and put one on each index card or slip of paper. Keep these cards in the center of your table and during family meals if the conversation starts to lull, pick one out and see where it takes you!
