Many campers and staff at Wawenock use the time away from technology and screens to write in a journal during rest hours, at night, or even on the Images at Vespers. Today’s camp activity suggestion comes from the Sangster family, who have been chronicling their family adventures during this time at home by keeping a Calendar Journal.
Materials Required: Either a blank calendar for May that you print at home, or if you don’t have a printer, a calendar you already own or a piece of paper and a pen or pencil to create your own!
How to Keep a Calendar Journal: Print or prepare your calendar for May. Then each night, after dinner or before bed, jot down a few bullet points or a sentence about something fun you did that day, a special moment you shared, or even a really good meal you ate. Keep this up for the whole month and you’ll have an easy way to look back at the awesome way you shared this family time together.
*Counselor Hack: Encourage your children to decorate the calendar with markers, stickers, or colored pencils. Make sure to post it somewhere central so everyone can enjoy it.
