This camp activity is coming to you directly from the Lodge’s creative team. Almost every summer Lodgers organize and host an extensive Spa experience, entirely camper directed and run. Lodgers have no trouble thinking outside of the box, so let’s all channel our inner Lodger to create a zen moment in our home with an At Home Spa.
Materials Required: Accessories, toiletries, personal care items, and crafts supplies you have at home
How to Build your At Home Spa:
Step 1: Have participants pick their area of focus for which aspect of the spa they will organize. Participants can be in small groups or work as individuals. Ideas include: reception/check in, hair care, facials and skin care, massages, nail care, and a meditation zone. The leaders of each activity are responsible for planning, setting up, and running their area. Be creative and think through the entire customer experience like: What is the name of your spa? Are employees in uniform? Are guests given robes and slippers upon entry? Is the spa in one area of the house or does each room represent a new activity? What kind of music is playing? What are the spa’s amenities – water, snacks, etc.? How will guests book their appointments? If you need inspiration, check out the 2018 Lodge Spa from the Camp Video (at time mark 3:05 – the password is the same as usual, and if you need it, email office@campwawenock.com ).
Step 2: After everyone feels prepared, it’s time to relax at your At Home Spa. Perhaps family members take turns being the spa guests, or maybe there’s one designated spa customer who moves through each station. Maybe parents are the only guests, while the children are the spa employees, or everyone goes from station to station together with the leaders stepping out of the guest role in order to run their area when the group arrives there.
*Counselor Hack: After the children have done their planning, it’s your chance to enjoy being indulged and doted on, so take full advantage and savor the moment!
Now go get pampered!
